GET PAID TO CHARGE YOUR EV AT HOME - FREE CHARGER INCLUDED
With the SWTCH Home Charging Program, Canadian homeowners get a free Level 2 EV charger and earn money for charging right at home.
How it Works
As a member of SWTCH Home Charging Program, your home charging activity generates carbon credits.
Until now, these credits were only available to big commercial operators. We pool your home charging with thousands of others to unlock this revenue stream, using it to pay for your hardware and put cash back in your pocket.
Step by Step
1. Pay a $300 Deposit
You select your charger model and place a $300 deposit. This secures your hardware, which we ship directly to you.
2. Install Your Charger
You install the charger (Plug-in or Hardwired) and connect it to the SWTCH Home Charging Program app via Wi-Fi.
3. Get Your Deposit Back
Once your charger has recorded 1,500 kWh of usage (approximately 3–5 months for the average driver), your $300 deposit is automatically refunded in full.
4. Keep Earning
After the refund, you continue to accumulate 3 cents for every kWh charged. When your balance reaches $100, the funds are transferred via direct deposit to your bank account.

Who is SWTCH?
SWTCH operates one of Canada’s largest EV charging networks, powering thousands of chargers at apartments, workplaces, and retail locations coast-to-coast—including properties for Marriott, Metro, and Green P Parking.
We are now extending our charging expertise to homeowners. This program allows you to leverage the carbon credit market previously reserved for large commercial operators.
Program FAQs
Why is the charger free?
The program is funded by the Canadian carbon credit market. Your home charging activity generates credits that have value to organizations offsetting emissions. The revenue from these credits covers the cost of the hardware and funds your payouts.
Are there monthly fees?
No. There are no subscription fees or annual costs associated with the charger or the app.
Do you provide installation services?
No. Installation is the responsibility of the homeowner. If you choose the "Plug-In" model and have an existing 240V outlet, you may install it yourself. Hardwired installations require a licensed electrician.
Which app do I need?
You must use the SWTCH Home Charging Program app. This is a dedicated app for this program and is different from the public SWTCH app used for public-facing charging.
